Arthur J. “Joe” Ollinger Jr., 89, Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday morning, September 15, 2016, at his home.

He was born August 22, 1927, in Altoona, son of the late Arthur J. Sr. and Margaret (Ryan) Ollinger. On July 10, 1954, he married Eleanor M. Miller at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona, and she preceded him in death on August 18, 2004, after having shared 50 years of marriage.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan H. Lambertina and husband, Rod; two sons: Joseph L and wife, Candy, and Jeffrey H. and wife, Leslie; and seven grandchildren: Preston, Abbey, Hunter, Patrick, Sara, Michael and Angela Ross, all of Hollidaysburg.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Drass and Dorothy Wagner; and two brothers: Herbert and Thomas.

Joe was a graduate of Altoona High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII. He was founder of Ollinger Brothers Inc., Altoona. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, as well as Knights of Columbus, Star of the Sea Council; Heidelberg; Bavarian Aid Society; and the NRA. He was devoted to his business and his family, especially his wife, as she suffered an extensive illness. He also enjoyed hunting, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and his dog, Teddy.

Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2016, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by Monsignor Stanley B. Carson. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona
