Bertha J. Walker

Bertha J. Walker, 87, Hollidaysburg, passed away Saturday at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Philipsburg, daughter of the late Samuel and Bertha (Warren) Sleigh. On April 30, 1949, she married Jack D. Walker in Gearhartsville.

Surviving are her husband with whom she shared nearly 68 years of marriage; two daughters: Nancy Eardley and husband, David, of Hollidaysburg and Joanne Reaney and husband, Doug, of Rock Hill, Md.; a son, George Walker and wife, Vicki, of Birdsboro; six grandchildren: Randy, Justin and Alison Walker and Michael, Adam and Amy Eardley; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jack and wife, Mary, of Brockway.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Roy.

Bertha was a 1946 graduate of Philipsburg High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg. She enjoyed her church, her family, quilting, sewing, reading and cooking.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the church, the Rev. Dr. John Godissart officiating. Interment will be at Philipsburg Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to First United Methodist Church, Allegheny Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
