Betty Anne (Mench) Belz

Betty Anne Mench Belz, 88, Allentown, formerly of Altoona and Hollidaysburg, died Monday, October 10, 2016, at Muhlenburg Hospital, Allentown.

She was born December 14, 1927, in Altoona, daughter of Norman and Elizabeth (Cornelius) Mench. On September 1, 1951, she married Arnold Herman “Rudy” Belz Jr., and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2015 after having shared 63 years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters: Elizabeth R. Padgett and Marcia A. Colpan; two sons: Richard C. and Arnold N., and wife, Kelly; eight grandchildren: Suzanne Telfer, Amanda Maddox, Hope and Jonathan Coplan, and Adam, Travis, Tyler and Trevor Belz; and five great-grandchildren: Caleb Telfer, Seth Peters, Victoria and Alexander Maddox, and Brody Belz.

Betty was a 1946 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hollidaysburg, and a former member Altoona Chapter No. 290, Order of the Eastern Star.

An Eastern Star Service will be held at 4:45 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2016, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, followed by a 5:00 p.m. memorial service by the Reverend Cynthia A. Carlisle. Inurnment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona.
