Charles R. “Chick” Byrnes, 71, Duncansville died Sunday evening, April 8, 2018, at his residence.
He was born September 26, 1946, in Altoona, son of the late Ralph and Mary (Drass) Byrnes. He married Nancy I. (Stever) on Sept. 1, 1974 in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife with whom he shared nearly 44 years of marriage; two daughters: Lisa Lanzendorfer and her husband, Van, of Duncansville, and Mandy Roland and husband, Randy, of Altoona; a son, Danny Wagner of Altoona; six grandchildren: Dustin, Lindsey, Lauren, Van, Luke and Max; a sister, Joyce Veckov and husband, Steve, of Hollidaysburg.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: William and Richard.
Chick was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, Class of 1964, and was a graduate of Altoona School of Commerce. He retired from Petroleum Products, Altoona. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Japan during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was a member of the Duncansville Memorial Post 8724, and attended St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, deer hunting, playing cards and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.
Friends will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Pastor Kathy Colebank officiating. Committal will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
