Feb. 3, 1939 –April 14, 2017

Dennis Christian Hileman, Geeseytown, passed away on Good Friday after a battle with cancer.

He was born in Geeseytown, son of the late John and Gladys (Mangus) Hileman. In 1961, he married Sandra Snowden. 

Surviving are his wife, Sandra; a daughter, Beverly Lovenguth (Peter) of Downingtown; two sons: David (Molly) of Harrison City and Daniel (Jill) of Hollidaysburg; eight grandchildren: Alexis Hileman, Maura Hileman, Taylor Hileman, Allison Hileman, Nicholas Lovenguth, Liam Hileman, Chad Lovenguth and Jacob Hileman; four sisters: Oletha Myers, June Kelley, Carol Loucks and Paula Keithley; a brother, Mark Hileman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends and associates.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert, Jim and David; and a sister, Dorothy Eberle.

Dennis was a 1957 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and served in the U.S. Army.  After retiring from Bell Atlantic, he spent his time with friends and family. He volunteered with numerous organizations such as Special Olympics and Geeseytown Fire Co., and enjoyed maintaining the Geeseytown Cemetery and assisting many who needed a hand. He was a member of Bell Pioneers, American Legion Fort Fetter Post 516, and the Kettle Creek Tamarack Sportmen’s Association.

He found pleasure in the outdoors, traveling, sports, fixing things and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. 

Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the American Legion Social Hall, Legion Park, Hollidaysburg, for a celebration of his life. Interment will be private.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a contribution be made to a charity of one’s choice.
