Donald L. Long

Donald L. Long, 82, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday evening, March 1, 2017, at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona.

He was born January 10, 1935, in Brush Mountain, son of the late Albert and Margaret (Neely) Long. On June 24, 1972, he married Dolores M. Steiner at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, and she preceded him in death on January 27, 2009, after having shared 36 years of marriage.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Lang; and three brothers: William, Kenneth and Albert.

Donald was a 1951 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He retired as a car repairman for Berwind White, Hollidaysburg, after 44 years of service.

He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, Hollidaysburg, where he served as deacon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and working on many projects.

Friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, immediately followed by a 2:00 p.m. funeral service, Pastor Matthew Smart officiating. Interment will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. John's Reformed Church, 904 Maple Ave., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648, or Grane Hospice Care, 106 Zee Plaza, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
