Gladys E. Dodson

Gladys E. Dodson, 88, Hollidaysburg, died Thursday morning, July 6, 2017, at her residence.

She was born October 20, 1928, in Plum Creek, daughter of late David and Elma (Snowberger) Smith. On April 10, 1947, she married Daniel C. Dodson, and he preceded her in death on August 25, 1989, after having shared 42 years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters: Connie L. Thompson and husband, William, and Patty Madden, all of Hollidaysburg; two grandchildren: Daniel and Angel Shipman and husband, Shane; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Musselman of McKee; and a close friend, William Ritchey of Claysburg.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra K. Dodson in September of 2014.

Gladys retired as a cashier for Gee Bee Dept. Store, Altoona. She was a well-known accordion player in several bands.

Friends will be received from 6:00 to 7:00 Friday, July 7, 2017, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held immediately after at 7:00 p.m., Pastor Ron Bashore officiating. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
