Janet M. (Boore) Mauk

Janet M. Mauk, 83, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, April 11, 2017, at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.

She was born February 13, 1934, in Altoona, daughter of the late Andrew C. and Helen P. (Snavely) Boore. On August 16, 1952, she married William L. Mauk Sr., and he preceded her in death on January 1, 2006, after having shared 53 years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters: Deborah M. Walters and husband, Kenneth, of Newry, and Diana L. Bartley and husband, Bill, of Altoona; a son, William L. Jr. and wife, Beverly, of Altoona; six granddaughters: Kelly, Amanda, Jenny, Stacy, Danelle and Janette; 11 great-grandchildren with two great-grandsons expected in May; a brother, Samuel; three sisters: Alma Eckard, Peggy Patterson and Sondra Galanick; and her extended family at Hillcrest Apartments.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, William Walters; two sisters: Ruth Ickes and Darla Mayhue; and three brothers: Clayton, Harry and Ronald.

Janet retired as a supervisor for Boyer Candy Co., Altoona, after 36 years of service. She then word at Marianna Foods, Tipton, for 11 years.

She was a member of Fourth Street Church of God, Altoona. She was also a member of Red Hat Society, and she enjoyed bowling, playing cards, puzzles, card making and dogs.

Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Pastor Jon Neely officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
