Margaret R. "Peggy" (Shaffer) Stevanus

Margaret R. "Peggy" (Shaffer) Stevanus, 76 of Altoona and Hollidaysburg, passed away, Wednesday at Hillview Healthcare.

She was born August 29, 1940 in Hollidaysburg, daughter of the late Jesse G. and Rosella (Delozier) Shaffer.

Surviving are her husband of ten years, Fay E. Stevanus; daughters:  Barbara (Shoup) Sigmon and husband Wil of SC; Vicki (Shoup) Wegner and husband Joel of VA;  four step-sons:  Michael, Jay, Pat and Jim; four grandchildren; two sisters:  Betty Wesselink in SC and Anita Shultz of Johnstown; and a brother, Robert Shaffer in GA.  She is also survived by her first husband, R. Arland Shoup or Duncansville.

She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Joy; and brothers John "Jack", Ben and Ted; and a granddaughter, Kaylen Sigmon.

Peggy was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, class of 1958.  

She was a member of Grace Family Bible Church where she enjoyed volunteer work.  

Peggy enjoyed many years of helping the "snow cone man" with the "Snow Cone Jeep" in Altoona.

Friends will be received from 4-6pm, Friday, February 24, 2017 at Sorge Funeral Home, Inc., Hollidaysburg immediately followed by a 6pm Memorial Service.  Pastor Jim Zaebst officiating.
