Melvin E. Keith Sr., 98, of Duncansville, passed away Saturday, March 25th at Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born February 4, 1919 in Martinsburg, son of the late Irvin and Nora (Showalter) Keith.

Melvin married Camilla M. Schilling February 10, 1943 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.  She preceded him in death July 27, 1972 after having shared 29 years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters:  Kathryn M. Snively and husband, James; Cecilia Hazenstab and husband Edward, all of Duncansville; a son, Melvin E. Jr. and wife Sarah of Rocky Point, NC; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters:  Eva M. Eshelman of Martinsburg and Arlene Hall and husband, Edward of Mt. Vernon, Ohio.

Melvin was a graduate of Roaring Spring High School, class of 1938.

He had been employed by Appleton Paper, Roaring Spring, as a Backtender on #2 machine.  Melvin was a TSgt., US Army Corps, WWII, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, with the 30th Bombardment Group, 27th Bombardment Squadron.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing.

Friends will be received 6-8pm Tuesday, March 28th at Sorge Funeral Home, Inc., Hollidaysburg.  A funeral service will be held 9am Wednesday at the funeral home by Father Allen P. Zeth.  Military Honors by Blair County Veteran's Honor Guard.  Interment in New St. Mary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Vincent DePaul Society Soup Kitchen, 2201 Union Avenue, Altoona, PA  16601 or Shrine Hospitals for Children, %Jaffa Shrine, 2200 Broad Avenue, Altoona, PA  16602.
