Susan W. Hanwell

Susan W. Hanwell, 81, Hollidaysburg, died Monday evening, December 5, 2016, at UPMC Altoona.

She was born January 10, 1935, in Rennerdale, daughter of Renz and Audrey (Davidson) Weinmann. In 1959, she married George Hanwell in Mount Washington United Presbyterian Church, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2002, after having sharing 43 years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters: Karen Lacaden (Edwin) and Deborah DePastina (David); a son, Ian J. (Vicky); eight grandchildren; a brother, Renz; and a son-in-law, John.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rise Warholic in 2016.

Susan was a graduate of Clark Hill High School, Carnegie, and Magee Woman's Hospital School of Nursing, Oakland. She was employed as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital, Altoona, and she retired from Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Hollidaysburg, and the Audubon Society. She enjoyed flower gardening, as well as her pet dog, Pugsley, and her three cats.

At Susan's request, there will be no public viewing or funeral service. Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg.
