Betty L. "Nan" (Lovell) Hescox, 92, Hollidaysburg, died Thursday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born at home in Blandburg, daughter of the late Frank and Iva M. (Thomas) Lovell. She married John Hescox in 1945.
Surviving are her husband of 74 years; three daughters: Patricia R. Carnell and husband, Ron, of Duncansville, Janice Ambrose and husband, Al, of Mount Dora, Fla., and Linda Ingerski and husband, Bill, of Culpepper, Va.; two sons: Bill and wife, Phyllis, of Roaring Spring, and Mitch and wife, Clare, of New Freedom; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; numerous step-grandchildren; five sisters: Sally J. Myer, Iva Marie Walter, Nancy A. Hann, Margaret Lender and Susan McGowan; a brother, Thomas Lovell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five siblings: Ellen M. Britton, Marian Gates, Arthur, James and Charles Lovell.
Nan graduated from Reade Township High School in 1945 and then graduated as a licensed practical nurse from Greater Altoona Tech Center in 1965. She worked as an LPN for many years.
She was a member of Delphi Chapter No. 65 OES, Altoona. She was also a member of The Daughters of the Nile, Dorcas Temple No. 129.
Nan was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg, where she enjoyed overseeing cooking for many church functions, leading women's Bible study and crafts. She also sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.
Nan loved quilting, knitting, bowling and entertaining and caring for her family.
Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg. A Service of Death and Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at First UMC, Hollidaysburg, the Rev. Dr. John A. Godissart and John and Betty's son, the Rev. Mitchell C. Hescox, officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
