Bonita R. “Bonnie” Saksa, 75, Duncansville, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018, at UPMC Altoona.
She was born May 22, 1942, in Spangler, daughter of the late William Glenn and Marian (Fellows) Hartzell.
Surviving are her husband, Carl F. Saksa, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage; three stepdaughters: Jill Hancock and husband, Dennis, Beth Wood and husband, Scott and Nancy Jo Saksa; a stepson, John Saksa; five step-grandchildren; a step-great-granddaughter; a sister, Linda Newton and husband, William; a stepbrother, Thomas Eger and wife, Mary Ann; seven nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Lona Aiken and husband, Michael; and her special friends and caregivers: Wendy Diehl, Judy Davidson and Judy Wise.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Burch; her stepmother, Regina Hartzell; and a stepson, Carl Saksa Jr.
Bonnie was a graduate of Altoona Catholic High School, Class of 1960. She retired from SKF with 25 years of service as an assembler.
She enjoyed being with her family, sending cards to bring cheer and performing random acts of kindness.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, Deacon Charles R. Ahearn officiating. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
