Charles “Ray” Naugle, 93, Lakemont, passed away Tuesday at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles S. and Naomi (Wright) Naugle. In 1946, he married Ruth E. Martin in Cumberland, Md., and she preceded him in death in 2014.
Surviving are two daughters: Linda Harpster and husband, John, in Florida, and Cindy Detrich and husband, Tim, of Altoona; two sons: Gary R. and wife, Diana, in South Carolina, and Jeffery C. and wife, Sue, of Altoona; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna J. Houser of Tyrone.
He was preceded in death by three sisters; and two brothers.
Ray was a 1943 graduate of Altoona High School. He then graduated from Penn State Altoona. During WWII, Ray was a U.S. Navy Seebee. He worked as a John Hancock Agent for 36 years.
He was a life member of the Lakemont Volunteer Fire Department and the Lakemont First Church of God, where he served as an elder and was a founding member of the Senior Life Fellowship Group.
Ray enjoyed gardening, hunting camping, golf and the Lord.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, and from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, when a funeral service with military honors will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home, Pastor Mark A. Rhodes officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park
