Cynthia L. "Cindy" Smith

Cynthia L. “Cindy” Smith, 62, Duncansville, formerly of Canoe Creek, died Wednesday evening, November 8, 2017, at UPMC Altoona.

She was born June 13, 1955, in Altoona, daughter of the late Edison and Patricia (Robinson) Wertz. On June 14, 1997, she married Joseph A. Smith in Kershaw County, S.C., and he preceded her in death on November 28, 2012, after sharing 15 years of marriage together.

Surviving are a daughter, Erin L. Scott of Duncansville; a step-son, Joseph A. Smith Jr. and wife, Beth, of Canoe Creek; a brother Jamie B. and wife, Crystal, of Duncansville; a nephew; and four nieces.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Micky Butterbaugh and Janice Woytowiez.

She was a 1973 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. In 2009, after 15 years of service, she retired as a line cook from Old Canal Inn, Hollidaysburg.

She enjoyed people, camping, swimming and her pet dog. She also was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Friends will be received from 1:00 until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, Vicker Gregg Weise. Interment will be at New Canoe Creek Cemetery.
