David E. McVey Sr., Wake Forest, N.C., formerly of Duncansville, died Wednesday at WakeMed North Hospital, Raleigh, N.C.
He was born in Duncansville, son of the late Chester and Myrtle (Mickey) McVey. He married Kaye Border in 1961 in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years; a daughter, Susan E. Brummett and husband, Wayne, in Wake Forest, N.C.; a son, David E. Jr. and wife, Sonya, in Tryon, N.C.; eight granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a 1959 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was employed as a maintenance worker at Sears for 27 years and then worked at the Blair Christian Home. He was a former member of the Foot of Ten Independent Baptist Church and current member of North Wake Church.
David loved planting a garden and being an outdoorsman.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at the Foot of Ten Independent Baptist Church. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
