Donald E. Chilcote, 91, of Johnstown, passed away Thursday at Richland Woods Assisted Living.
He was born in Alexandria, Pa., son of the late Emory and Frances (Grove) Chilcote. He married Aline Rankin, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are a daughter, Tamie, and husband, Sukanto Sinha, in California; a son, Bret, and wife, Shelia, of Johnstown; three grandsons, four great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Mitchel and husband, Wayne, of Alexandria; and a special friend, Leona Granville of Hollidaysburg.
Don was preceded in death by two sisters: Jean Durr and Rachel Elizabeth Decker. He retired from Bell Telephone in 1987 after more than 30 years as an engineer.
He was U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. Don was a 50-year member of Mount Moriah Lodge 300 F&AM and a 50-year member of the Jaffa Shrine, where he enjoyed multiple units.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards, golfing, hunting and fishing.
Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., where a funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at Huntingdon Memorial Gardens.
