Dr. George J. Biesinger, 83, Hollidaysburg, died Friday in the Emergency Room at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Johnstown, son of the late George O. and Ida (Martin) Biesinger. In October 1964, he married Rose A. Neary in St. Louis, Mo.
Surviving are his wife, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage; five sons: Chris, Mike, John, Andy and Evan; 10 grandchildren; and two brothers: Owen and Eric.
George was a graduate of Altoona Catholic High School, class of 1952. He graduated from St. Francis University, Loretto, and from St. Louis University Medical School. He served in the U.S. Army, and he practiced obstetrics in Altoona from 1970-2000. George was a board member of the Altoona Hospital and the AMA.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, Father Anthony J. Legarski celebrant. Committal will be in Calvary Cemetery.
