Edward C. Eger Sr., 86, Duncansville, died Sunday at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Robert J. and Elizabeth (Slage) Eger. He married June T. Smith in 1953.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years; a daughter, Jeanette Muir and husband, Kent, of Duncansville; four sons: Edward Jr. and wife, Sue, of Hollidaysburg, Daniel of Roaring Spring, Stephen and wife, Bonnie, of Altoona, and Barry of Cresson; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara McCoy; and two brothers: Patrick and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Bushman; and two brothers: John and Robert.
Edward graduated from Hollidaysburg High School, class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Koran Conflict. He retired from the Hollidaysburg Area School District as a custodian.
He was a charter member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Duncansville.
Edward enjoyed wood working, gardening and going for walks in the woods.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2019, and from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will follow at 12 noon, Wednesday at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Duncansville, Monsignor Robert J. Saly officiating. Committal will be at New St. Mary Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
