Ernest A. Sheppard, 87, Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday.
He was born in Swannington, Leicestershire England, son of the late Alfred John and Nina Evelyn (Bennett) Sheppard.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley K. (Roberts) Sheppard; two sons: Gordon D. Sheppard and Robert A. Sheppard; and a brother-in-law, Barry.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Ada, Mabel and Violet; and four brothers: William, Frank, George and Tommy
Ernest graduated high school in England. He was employed at Tolton’s VW in Canada, Montgomery VW in Hollidaysburg and Mierly VW in State College. For 50 years, he was owner of Sheppard’s Garage in Hollidaysburg.
He was a member of Mountain Lodge No. 281, F&AM; AASR, Valley of Altoona; Jaffa Shrine, where he sang with the Chanters; Chief Logan Forrest No. 131, Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Hollidaysburg Sportman's Club; Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs; and Pennsylvania Wildlife Federation. He was also a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Hollidaysburg.
Ernest enjoyed hunting, car racing and bicycling.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a Masonic service will follow at 2:45 p.m. on Friday. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, the Rev. Jeanne Jacobson officiating.
