Glenn "Rick" Hinson, 63, Hollidaysburg, died peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at his residence, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma.
He was born in St. Marys, son of Glenn A. Hinson and Jean (Miller) Hinson. On April 18, 1992, he married Cindy S. Wertz at First Baptist Church, Hollidaysburg.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years; his father and stepmother: Glenn A. and Patsy Hinson; his stepfather, Frank Cavender; two sons: Christopher (Jenn) Hinson in Georgia and Jason (Ashley) Shoop in Texas; a daughter, Cortney (Steve) Ritchey of Hollidaysburg; six grandchildren: Grant, Gaige, Leah, Kalleigh, Quinton and Zane; a brother, Roger Hinson in Florida; a sister, Denise (Roger) Rumbaugh; nephews in Georgia; and a special aunt, Lois Berkheimer of Elton.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean (Miller) Cavender; and a daughter-in-law, Brianne K. Shoop.
Glenn "Rick" was a 1972 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School. He retired as a truck driver for New Penn Motor Express in October 2016. In his younger years, he really enjoyed being a truck driver.
He enjoyed shooting guns with his sons. He also loved the breakfast meetings that he would have with friends, and he enjoyed taking mission trips to Ecuador.
When Glenn became a grandfather, there was a new spark to his eyes. He was so loving and caring with all of his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them! He also enjoyed nature walks with his wife.
Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg.
