Harry C. Whitsel

Harry C. Whitsel, 67, Altoona, died Wednesday morning at his daughter's home in Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Margaret Whitsel.

Surviving are four daughters: Patricia Walden, Elaine Ketner (Jim), Kathee Dermendzin (Dave) and Tina Stinem, all of Altoona; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two granddaughters: Tina and Breanna; and two wives: Rose and Shirley.

Harry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. For 15 years, he worked in the mailroom at the Altoona Mirror. Prior to that, he was employed at Carol Cable for more than 20 years.

He enjoyed putting together models.

At Harry's request, there will be no viewing. A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 608 Sixth Ave., Altoona. Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg.
