Ila Mae (Tate) Gearhart

Ila Mae Gearhart, 92, of Annville, formerly of Duncansville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 2, 2018 at Lebanon Valley Home, Annville.

She was born October 25, 1925, in Altoona, daughter of the late Ralph and Mona (Burns) Tate.  On September 15, 1946 she married George H. Gearhart in Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church.  He preceded her in death October 11, 1999 after having shared 53 years of marriage.

Surviving are a daughter, Patty A. Gearhart Smith of Dayton, Ohio; a son, Dennis G. and wife, Dawn of Lebanon; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Kay Slippey of Hollidaysburg.

Ila was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, class of 1943.  She was a life-long member of Duncansville Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren; 4th of July family picnics and reunions; baseball; word search puzzles; camping, and wintering in Florida.

Friends will be received Monday, January 8, 2018 from 11 am to 12 Noon at Sorge Funeral Home, Inc., Hollidaysburg immediately followed by a 12 Noon funeral service, Rev. Ronald Slabaugh officiating.  Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville.
