John H. "Jack" Hamel, 74, Hollidaysburg, passed away Saturday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Kenneth L. and Mary M. (Thompson) Hamel. In 1963, he married Nancy Yingling.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years; two daughters: Rebecca (Robert) of Hollidaysburg and Johnna (Dan) of Altoona; four grandchildren: Robert, Corey, Maria and Shane; two siblings: Tanya Cope and Ken B., both in Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Jack was a 1961 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, and he retired from Norfolk Southern as a diesel mechanic. He was a proud member of the NRA and enjoyed riding his Gold Wing.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a memorial service will be held afterward at 3 p.m. Saturday, Pastor Jaime G. Olson officiating.
