January 11, 1950 ~ May 14, 2017 (age 67) 67 Years OldJoseph A. Talerico Sr., 67, Altoona, passed away May 14, 2017, Sunday at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown.
He was born January 11, 1950, in Spangler, son of the late Philip and Rose (Scalise) Talerico.
Surviving are his girlfriend of 20 years, Jeannie Fochtman of Manns Choice; two children: Rochelle (Jason Bumberger) and Joseph A. Jr. (Trisha Gabella), all of Altoona; and two siblings: Rosemary (George) Stark in Florida, and Carmen (Carol) in Alabama. Joe also loved spending time with his two grandchildren, Jacob and Allyssa, whom he adored.
Joe was a 1968 graduate of Northern Cambria High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy until 1970. Prior to his stroke in 2008, he was employed as a machine operator at Commercial Envelope.
He was an avid bowler, and he enjoyed bowling with his son. Over the years, he bowled in several different leagues, where he made numerous friends.
Jeannie and Joe truly enjoyed each other's company while traveling and dining at different restaurants.
Although Joe loved to watch most sports, the Crimson Tide and the Miami Dolphins were his favorite teams.
Friends will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the funeral home, Deacon Charles R. Ahearn officiating. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona; military honors provided by Blair County Veteran's Honor Guard.
