Joyce M. Hicks

Joyce M. Hicks, 71, Ranson W.Va., formerly of Newry, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Winchester Medical Center, Va.

She was born June 16, 1946, in Altoona, daughter of the late George and Marjorie (McCoy) Murphy. She was first married to Robert Antes who preceded her in death; and then in 1979, she married John Calvin Hicks.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Tammy Woomer; three grandchildren; a brother, Robert; and her close friend, Marcia Martin.

She was preceded in death by a grandson.

Joyce was a 1964 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, and she worked for TRITEX Sportswear for 25 years as a seamstress.

She was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Newry.

Friends will be received from noon until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, Father Allen P. Zeth officiating. Committal will be in Carson Valley Cemetery.
