Leoda F. (Ray) Wertz, 81 West Loop, Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday at her home.
She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late David and Ruth (Ritchey) Ray. She married Robert E. Wertz in 1960.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years; two sons: Darcy and wife, Joanne, in Virginia and Denton and wife, Beverly, of West Loop, Hollidaysburg; three grandchildren: Danielle, David and Jamie; a sister, Sharon Ray of Roaring Spring; a sister-in -law, Jacqulyn Ray of Alpharetta Ga; and 3 nephews: David Ray of Alpharetta, Ga, Dana Ray and wife, Connie, of Saratoga Springs, NY and Mark Ray of Burnsville, MN.
She was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Allen Ray.
Leoda graduated from Roaring Spring High School in 1955. She worked a secretary and a bookkeeper until her retirement in 2002. Prior to working as a secretary and bookkeeper in East freedom, she helped her husband on the farm while raising her two sons. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crafts.She designed many crafts for Children's Church and enjoyed crafting with her grandchildren.
She was a member of the former Roaring Spring Nazarene Church where she taught Sunday school and served as church treasurer. After marriage, she attended West Loop Missionary Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher.
She love her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with all her heart and reflected that love in all she did.
Leoda enjoyed raising her children on the family farm.
Friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Alto-Reste Park.
