Lula L (Westover) Snavely

Lula L. Snavely, 86, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Tuesday December 26, 2017 at UPMC, Altoona.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Anthony Ward and Mary C. (Blackstone) Westover.

Lula married Harry Snavely Jr., 1952 in Winchester, VA.  He preceded her in death April 15, 1977 after having shared 24 years of marriage.

Surviving are three daughters:  Cheryl Braithwaite and husband, David; Diane S. Cox and husband Carl; and Laurie Slaybaugh; four grandchildren:  Jo Ellen, Christopher, Rebecca and Amanda; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters: Alma Watt, Helen Ross, Anna Ruth Walls, Viola Merritts; and two brothers: Irvin and Miles.

Lula was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, class of 1949 and retired as a supervisor with Homemaker Service, Harrisburg, PA.

She was a member of Juniata Valley Gospel Church.  Lula was a direct descendant of William Holiday, founder of Gaysport and was related to the Westover familes of Westover, PA.

She enjoyed reading; being with her friends, and her three dogs.

Friends will be received Friday, December 29, 2017 from 10 am to the 11 am funeral service at Sorge Funeral Home, Inc., Hollidaysburg.  Pastor Bill L. Gualdoni, officiating.  Interment will be in Trindle Springs Lutheran Church Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, PA.

Memorials may be given to the Juniata Valley Gospel Church, Juniata Valley Road, Hollidaysburg, PA  16648
