Melvin C. Hammel, 78, Williamsburg, passed away Thursday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona.
He was born in Claysburg, son of the late James W. and Sarah E. (Feathers) Hammel. He married Pauline Banks in 1966.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years; two daughters: Pamela Schwaderer and husband, Jeff and Gloria Ginter and husband, Michael, all of Williamsburg; and four grandchildren: Brandi, Amber, Michael and Kourtney.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Johnathan, in 1999; four sisters; and four brothers.
Melvin retired from Beavertown Block after 44 years of service.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
At the request of the family, there will be no public service.
Interment will be at Ormenia Mines Cemetery, Williamsburg.
