Richard K. "Rick" Buchanan

Richard K. “Rick” Buchanan, 72, Duncansville, passed away Sunday morning, June 18, 2017, at Homewood at Martinsburg.

He was born March 12, 1945, in Altoona, son of the late Walter and Edna (Coke) Buchanan. On Oct. 12, 2002, he married Patty Jo Smith in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Richard H. (Lisa) Buchanan of Roaring Spring; two grandchildren: Kearston and Trenton; a great-granddaughter, Mia; a sister, Janet Fiochetta; and two sisters-in-law: Donna and Barb.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Ronald and Robert; two sisters: Joyce Pulcinello and Jayne Malone; and a brother-in-law, Vic.

Rick was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a sergeant for the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. On March 10, 2010, he retired from F.L. Smith.

He attended Juniata Valley Gospel Church, and he enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing.

Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the funeral home, Pastor David A. Tremmel, nephew of the deceased, officiating. Military honors will be provided by Blair County Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
