Robert D. Reese

Robert D. Reese, 83, of Lilly, died Sunday at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.

He was born in Johnstown, son of the late Everett and Dorothy (Snyder) Reese. He married Jean M. Dougherty, who preceded him in death in 2017, after 56 years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters: Kathleen Herman in South Carolina and Tara Festa in Florida; three sons: Robert W. in Iowa, David J. of Duncansville and Erik J. of Pittsburgh; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Robert graduated from Johnstown High School, class of 1955. He retired as a driver for Gee Bee Furniture in Johnstown.

Bob was an avid sports enthusiast, but his love for basketball was felt by all. He coached boys' and girls' basketball for the Lilly Youth Association, winning numerous tournaments and bringing a great reputation to the program for being competitive and displaying great sportsmanship throughout the area. He volunteered his time unselfishly for the athletes of the Lilly area by patiently sharing his years of wisdom and passion for the game.

Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2019, at the Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment at New St. Mary Cemetery.
