Walter S. Marks, 89, Altoona, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018, at Maybrook Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born July 8, 1928, in Altoona, son of the late Samuel and Minnie (Walters) Marks. He married Donna L. Barry in 1954.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years; three daughters: Robbie Sue Marks of Monroeville, and twins, Lisa Biggs (Brian) in Missouri and Lynn Marks of Duncansville; two sons: Garry (Kelly) of Duncansville and Jerry (Diane) of Altoona; seven grandchildren: Michael, Matt, Chrissy, David, Hunter, Sydney and Katie; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Harriet Walz of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Liesl Chibirka in 2016.
Walter was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-52 in the 187th Airborne Ranger Unit during the Korean War. He retired from Ward Trucking Co. after 35 years as a truck driver.
He formerly attended Bethany Lutheran Church and he enjoyed woodworking, camping, and was an avid tennis player.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, Pastor Drew McCaffery officiating.
