William E. Freidenbloom Jr., 87, Altoona, passed away Friday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona.
He was born in Cross Keys, son of the late William E. Sr. and Clara (McGee) Freidenbloom. On Sept. 5, 1964, he married Mary Jane DePiro in Cross Keys.
Surviving are his wife, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage; three daughters: Vicki (David) Long, Kathy Yarwood and Chriss (Daniel) McGinnis; a son, William E. (Kathy); and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ricki L., on March 13, 2009.
William was a 1949 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, where he was involved in track, wrestling and football. He was among those honored as alumni at a September 2006 football game.
He retired from Improved Dwellings for Altoona Blair Tower. Prior to that, he worked at Crane Co., Duncansville, for 23 years.
William was a lifelong member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, Duncansville, where he formerly served as a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed camping, the outdoors, carpentry and building homes.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, Duncansville, Pastor Bradley R. Runkle officiating. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
