Barbara Cassidy Ellis Smith

Barbara (Cassidy Ellis) Smith, 61, left this world to join her loved ones and her Savior in heaven, on Wednesday, February 17th, 2021.  She passed away peacefully at her residence in Bellwood, PA after a brief illness.
Barbara, born on July 26th 1959 in Springfield, MA, was the proud daughter of U.S.S. Indianapolis survivor, the late John “Jack” Curran Cassidy and her mother Milanne (Daggett) Cassidy.  Barbara was first married to Robert Ellis currently of PA and then to the late Paul Smith.
Barbara is survived by her mother, her three loving children and their significant others: Abigail Perry Ellis (Adrian), Daniel Robert Ellis (Shaunda), and Kimberly Marie Smith (Brandon), seven grandchildren including Lucas Paul McFadden, Kameron Bobby Williams, and Cassidy Curran Ellis, her brother, Dr. Kevin J Cassidy, and sister Jill A Cassidy (Charlie) and niece Charlotte, as well as beloved cousins and friends.
She is pre-deceased by her husband, Paul Smith, her father Jack Cassidy, as well as her beloved niece, Katie Elizabeth Cassidy.
Barbara was a graduate of Nauset Regional High School in the mid-70s, and she earned her degree in Accounting in 2000 from the Florida Metropolitan University.
She was accomplished in the art and skills of sewing, tailoring, quilting and knitting, having been taught the basics by her grandmother and perfecting it on her own, and she could create a dress just from looking at a photo. She was a sought-after home health aid due to her love for her patients and their families.  She worked as an office manager and finance associate in bookkeeping before retiring in 2006.
Barbara had the best sense of humor and the most heartwarming laugh. She loved reading mysteries by James Paterson, solving puzzles and crafting.  Most of all, besides her family, she loved the land she considered her home, Cape Cod.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held July 2021 on Cape Cod, MA.
