Betty R. (Hanks) Hoover, 98, of the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior and Lord Jesus on Wednesday. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Ray A. and Bertha M. (Russell) Hanks. She married the late Wayland Dale “Squink” Hoover, who preceded her in death in 2015 after 72 years of marriage. Surviving are two daughters: Connie L. Gillette and husband Gordon in NY, and Cheryl A. Hoover of Hollidaysburg; a son, Robert D. and wife Monica of Sellersville; two grandsons: Matthew and Andrew Gillette and wife Jennifer; and two great grandchildren: Kelsey and Nathan Gillette. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Sue Hoover; and siblings: Helen Dell, Shirley Hoover, Robert Hanks, and Donald Hanks.
Betty graduated from Altoona High School in 1940. She was a homemaker and a member of the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, where she served as organist and pianist for many years. She enjoyed all types of music.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family, Pastor Bradley R. Runkle officiating. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery.
