Cecilia A. (Zurenko) Madden

July 12, 1928 - June 10, 2024

Cecilia A. (Zurenko) Madden, 95, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Monday at Garvey Manor. She was born in Barnesboro, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Brant) Zurenko. She married Michael G. Madden, who preceded her in death in 1998.

Surviving are a son, Michael A.; a daughter, Jackie Szymusiak and husband Shawn, all of Hollidaysburg; three granddaughters: Lauren and husband Paul, Shannon and husband John, and Jessica and husband Doug; and seven great grandchildren: Ezra, Eric, Nora, Emily, Ellie, Wyatt, and Mara.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erin Elizabeth Szymusiak in 1994; and five sisters: Mildred, Molly, Helen, Winifred, and twin sister Marge.

Cecilia retired from the Allegheny Lutheran Home after 20 years. She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Hollidaysburg, where she sang in the church choir.                

She was a devoted Catholic who enjoyed praying the rosary on a daily basis.

Cecilia was a Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan.

All services are private at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg.

Private interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
