Charles A. Baker, 79, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care. He was born in Altoona, son of the late William J. and Marie M. (Leap) Baker.
Surviving are two sisters: Patricia M. of Hollidaysburg, and Teresa L. in DE; five brothers: Francis J. in TX, James W. in FL, Thomas G., and Raymond J., both of Hollidaysburg, and Joseph M. of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by siblings Margaret Hart, Edward R., John F., and Philip J.
Charlie graduated from Hollidaysburg High School 1962 and served in the US Army in Vietnam.
Charlie enjoyed working for the Slinky Corp. and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Hollidaysburg. He enjoyed placing flags on veterans’ graves at local cemeteries.
He was a 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Star of the Sea Council 4245.
Charlie enjoyed walking around town and carrying newspapers until his health failed.
Friends will be received from 10am-12pm on Tuesday Nov 15, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, where a funeral Mass will immediately follow at 12pm, Fr. Alan E. Thomas, Celebrant. Private committal at Calvary Cemetery.
