Charles S. Fleck, 87, of Duncansville, passed away on Monday at his residence. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Frank and Orveda (Resig) Wineland. He married Elizabeth C. Hammaker in 1953, who preceded him in death in 2018.
Surviving are three daughters: Cynthia Y. Hammel and Theresa A. Campbell, both of East Freedom, and Allyson D. Oppel and husband, Steven, of Hollidaysburg; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, George Wineland.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen F.; a grandson, Stephen F. II; two sisters: Laretta Kauffman and Martha Ann Conrad; and a brother, Ronald Wineland.
Charles served in the US Army during Korea. He retired from Imler’s Poultry as a driver, where he was known as Chicken Charlie.
Charles was an active member of Dry Run Independent Baptist Church and sang in the choir.
He enjoyed Sunday dinners with his whole family, hunting, fishing, and watching deer and turkeys in his yard.
Friends will be received from 1-5pm on Friday July 16, 2021, at Dry Run Independent Baptist Church, where a funeral service with military honors will immediately follow. Pastor John Leatherman officiating. Interment at Dry Run Cemetery.
