Charles R. Lafferty, 79, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday, following complications of a stroke. He was born at home in Gallitzin, son of the late Clair and Hulda (Sehrer) Lafferty. He married Dortha Markey in 1964. Surviving are his wife of 56 years; a brother James E. and wife Connie in SC; four nieces and a nephew.
Charlie graduated from Altoona High School in 1959. He served in the US Army Reserves for 23 years and retired as a service tech after 30 years with Verizon. Charlie was a member of the Train Collectors Club of America, and was a life-member of the Heidelberg. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir and was a past-president of the Church council and served on the property committee. Charlie enjoyed collecting Lionel trains, taking cruises, spending time at his Myrtle Beach vacation home, and going out with his friends. He enjoyed watching PSU and Steelers football.
All services are private at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg. Interment at Alto Reste Park.
