Aug 24, 1957 - Jan 27, 2024
David “Dave” L. Maher, loving father, chicken pap and husband, born in August 24 1957, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on January 27,2024, in his favorite spot, his garage. He was born the eighth of fifteen children to Emma (Clapper) and Charles Francis Maher.
Dave is survived by his wife, Cindy (Esh) of 37 years; daughter, Sarah and husband, Keith Kantoski, of Duncansville; his son and best friend, Mathew Maher; three grandchildren: Kendall, Logan and Mia Kantoski; and many siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He attended Hollidaysburg high school and was a self-taught mechanic and body man for almost 50 years. He opened his own business, Maher’s Garage, in 2005.
He loved his family, garage, antique vehicles, and all animals (especially his chickens). He enjoyed watching the Steelers, Penn State and Newsmax. He dedicated his time to helping others achieve their dreams. One of Dave’s many talents was the bodywork he could perform on automobiles. He was a true artist.
Due to Dave’s wishes, there will be no public viewing. A celebration of life will be held February 17 from 1-3 at St. Catherine’s Church in Duncansville. Cremation service by Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to assist the family with funeral expenses.
