Denton D. Gibson

Denton Dwayne Gibson, 89, of Altoona, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday evening. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Milton and Alice (Rouzer) Gibson. He married Miriam Johnson in Clearfield, June 18, 1960.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years; 3 sons: Denton II, Bradley, and Douglas; 9 Grandchildren: Brandon, Ryan, Rachel, Amanda, Kara, Adam, Kaitlynne, Kristen, and DJ; 13 Great-grandchildren:  Hunter, Payton, Noah, Quinn, Ansley, Arianna, Sadie, Owen, Noah, Sophie, Maddox, Brooks, and Brody.  He was preceded in death by four siblings: Clay, Willis, Vernon, and Margaret.

Denny graduated from Altoona High School in 1953 and served in the USMC and the US Army 28th Division Band, and served 20 years in the PA Army National Guard.

He retired from Beasley Rebuilders as a Claim Warranty Manager and was a member of Mardorf UMC.          

Denny loved to tell his stories, and he had a lot of them.  Many were comical, some adventurous, while others were shared to impart life lessons to those he loved.  He led his life authentically, enjoying what it offered, fishing trips, baseball, music, nature, gardening, and family.  He was blessed with an abundance of great friendships, faithful camaraderie, and some amazing adventures along the way.  His strong love of family, friends, and his overall enjoyment of life, as well as those endless stories, made the world a better place for those who knew him.  He was one of kind, well loved, and will be greatly missed.
