Dolores R. (Kelly) Simpson

Dolores R. (Kelly) Simpson, 87, of Duncansville, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Newry, daughter of the late Pius and Ethel (Costlow) Kelly. She married Edward P. Simpson on November 3, 1956, who preceded her in death on November 12, 1980.

Surviving are a daughter, Patricia M. Stiffler; a son, Edward P. Jr. (Tammie); five grandchildren:  Heather Dixey (Craig), Erica Moyer (Aaron), Melissa Seiler (Steve), Kalyn Simpson (Jenelle), and Derek Stiffler (Megan); twelve great grandchildren; ten siblings: Gladys Glunt, Sister Jane RSM, Constance Dolinski (Mike), Mary Hetrick, Eileen Hileman, Rebecca Elias (Ed), Louis (Gloria), Richard (Jane), Gerald (Marjorie), and John Kelly (Sharon).

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Sam, and four siblings: Charlene, Patrick, Michael, and Sister Charlene RSM.

Dorie graduated from Mount Aloysius Academy and retired from Barkman Oil Company in Woodbury, Pa.           

She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she has served in the Guild, Eucharistic Ministries, Finance Council, Choir, and many other volunteer hours to aid the school.              

Dorie loved camping, bowling, and playing dominoes with her sisters. She was a sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren in any sport.

Friends will be received from 9:30am to 11am Saturday, August 28, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Newry, where a funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11am. Fr. Allen P. Zeth, Celebrant.

Committal at New St. Patrick Cemetery.
