Donald G. Jackson, 89, of Hollidaysburg, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday following a brief illness. He was born at home in Duncansville, son of the late George L. and Dorothy (Hoover) Jackson.
Surviving are two daughters: Cathy Anderson (Mike) of Altoona, Robin Bender (Ken) of Hollidaysburg; a son, Joel (Robin) of Hollidaysburg; eight grandchildren: Rebecca Yoder, Jaime Hersh, David Jackson, Tara Appleman, Kylie Anderson, Donald Jackson, Lindsay Pride, Lacey Taylor; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters; a sister: Carol Walters of Duncansville.
Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracey Hillegas; a grand-daughter, Shari Jackson; six siblings: Shirley Salyards, Philip, Charles, infant Jonathan, Gerald, and Verna Jean Glass.
Don graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1951, where he was an undefeated wrestler. He served as a medic in the US Army from 1953-55 in Alaska.
Don retired from New Enterprise Stone & Lime as a foreman for 40+ years. He was a member of Carson Valley COB where he formerly taught Sunday School and served as a youth leader.
Don enjoyed wrestling and participating in the Senior Olympics and the old-timers wrestling tournaments.
Friends will be received from 2-4pm on Wednesday, Nov 17, 2021 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 4pm. Pastors Jonas Hight and Aaron McCarty officiating. Interment at Mt. Sinai Cemetery.
