Donna Ogg Obituary

Donna Lee Ogg, aged 71 of Hollidaysburg, PA, passed away on April 8, 2026 after a lengthy illness.  Born July 1, 1954 in Beckley, WV, to Coleman Lee Ogg and Sally (Roberts) Ogg, she grew up in Indiana, PA, and later Hollidaysburg.  Upon high school graduation in 1972, she was one of fifty Pennsylvania students chosen to receive a U.S. Army college scholarship to enter the United States Army Nurse Corps.  She attended Susquehanna University (Selinsgrove, PA) for two years before graduating from the University of Maryland in 1976.

After serving as an ER nurse in Fort Carson, Colorado, she decided to make a career of the Army and was stationed at the United States Army Garrison Heidelberg, Germany.  She later earned her Master’s degree and credentials as a Certified Nurse Midwife from Emory University in Atlanta.  Donna served patients in that capacity at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and later at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC.  She retired from the Army in 1992 with the rank of Major and continued to pursue her medical career with Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Donna loved the desert southwest, but after repeated health struggles, she returned to Hollidaysburg in 2000 to be nearer to family.  She worked for a private physician practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife and later in the same role with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) system locally.  She was devoted to providing care for women through healthy pregnancies and births, and advocated for the role of Certified Nurse Midwives as skilled providers in the medical profession.

Donna was passionate about the arts, especially choral music, sacred music, and opera.  A mezzo soprano, she sang with Opera Southwest, Albuquerque, and with the Blair Concert Chorale, Altoona.  She loved all animals, especially dogs, and took great joy in her many canine companions.  She was an avid reader who continually expanded her sphere of knowledge.

Donna’s faith guided her life’s journey, and she found a home in Westminster Orthodox Presbyterian Church of Hollidaysburg.  She formed deep bonds with her friends in faith, and the good people of Westminster provided much comfort, care, and spiritual support during the last years of her illness.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dale Lawrence Ogg (Tamara), late of Martinsburg.

She is survived by her sister, Ellen Ogg Shifler (John) of Findley Lake, NY, stepmother Aldine Ogg of Hollidaysburg, and stepbrothers Allan Diehl (Peggy) of McAlevy’s Fort and Earnie Diehl (Kate) of Newry.  She was a dear aunt to Lauren Elizabeth Scott (Steve) of Pittsburgh, Kerin Dale Ogg of Durham, NC, Mitchell Coleman Ogg of East Freedom, Robbe Diehl Bendick (John), Zane Diehl, Jesse Diehl (Meghan), Nathan Diehl; and great-aunt to Cole, Finn, and many other nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Westminster Orthodox Presbyterian Church (1401 Frankstown Road, Hollidaysburg) with gathering and visitation from 10:00 – 11:00, and a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM (private interment at a later date).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to Doctors Without Borders USA (PO Box 5022, Hagerstown, MD  21741) or to Westminster Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
