Douglas J. Farrell, 60, of Gallitzin, passed away Saturday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of Louise (Ball) Farrell and the late Michael “Mickey” Farrell. He married Cynthia Lingenfelter in 1987.
Surviving are the love of his life, Cindy, of 37 years; two devoted sons: Colton and Patrick; a sister, Karen Brandt (Kevin); four brothers: James, Bruce (Lisa), Jerry, and Michael; and a sister-in-law, Cathy. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Greg.
Doug graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1981. He worked for Metz Builders his entire career, setting the example of a true work ethic and was a member of St. Demetrius Church, Gallitzin.
Doug lived life to its fullest; enjoying time with his family, going to hunting camp with his friends, coaching his sons and the youth of his community, golfing, going to auctions and defining how to vacation. Whether it meant racing to the top of Mt. Washington to see a sunrise, packing the cooler for the day or being the last man standing each night at the beach, Doug truly made vacations memorable.
He was always willing to help in the community and assisted in maintaining the athletic fields in the Gallitzin area.
A funeral mass will be held at a later date. Cremation service by Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc.
