Edwin F. Wilt Jr., 70, of Altoona, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Edwin F. Sr. and Margaret L. (Greiner) Wilt. He married Gloria Jean Bilich in 1969, she preceded him in death in 2015.
Surviving are a son, Edwin F. III, and wife Melissa of Altoona; three grandchildren: Kiley, Jacob, and Nathan; a great grandson, Grayson; a sister, Susan Painter, and husband, Wally of Hollidaysburg; a brother, Michael and wife Jenny of Hollidaysburg; a daughter in law, Sherry Wills. He is also survived by the Bilich family of Huntingdon.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert W. in 2010. He graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1967, then graduated from PSU in 1976 with a BS in Psychology. Ed proudly served in the US Army as a Sergeant during Vietnam. He retired as a Lt. from SCI Huntingdon. Ed was the previous owner of Diner 22 in Alexandria.
He was a member of the Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24, American Legion; Huntingdon Moose Lodge 223; Hollidaysburg Lodge 220 F&AM; and the Jaffa Shrine. Ed enjoyed reading, coin collecting, riding his motorcycle, golf, and his dog, Nicki. He was a loving, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Friends will be received from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a Vigil service will be held. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, June 15, 2020 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, Father Alan E. Thomas Celebrant. Committal at Alto Reste Park.
