Elwood L. Mallery Jr., 65, of Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of Maebelle (Saltsgiver) and the late Elwood L. Sr.
He is survived by a daughter, Shawnee Springer (Vincent) in Altoona; a son, William (Kimberly) in Altoona; four grandchildren: Cody, Leah, Lexi, and Jocelyn; four sisters: Sharon Ratliff, Jen Cole, Kristen Mallery, and Karen Glass, who selflessly cared for and was by his side until he entered eternal heaven; three brothers: Jeffrey, Bud, and Joseph; and his lifelong best friend, Don Henderson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Elwood III and a brother, David.
Elwood graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1973. For many years, he worked as a contractor, but most recently worked at Sam’s Club.
Elwood enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors. He had a strong religious faith and always had a positive outlook.
