Elwood "Woody" L. Mallery Sr.

Elwood L. “Woody” Mallery Sr., 86, of Altoona, passed away Saturday at home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Hemcher) Mallery. He married Maebelle Saltsgiver in 1953. Surviving are his wife of 67 years; four daughters: Karen Glass of Altoona, Sharon Ratliff in AZ, Jennifer Cole in NC, Kristen of Duncansville; and four sons: Jeffrey in FL, Elwood Jr. of Sinking Valley, Bud in VA, and Joseph of Altoona; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Betty Whitfield, Patricia Augustine, Judy Stotler, and Sandra Bovard; and two brothers: John and Ron; and his best friend, Gene Pletcher. He was preceded in death by a son, David; two grandsons: Woody III and Joseph, and four brothers: Richard, Charles, and Fred, and Robert; and a sister, Catherine Conner.

Woody retired as a self-employed roofer and painter. He attended Berean Baptist Church, and enjoyed hunting in WY.

Friends will be received from 3-4pm on Wednesday Nov 18, 2020 at Berean Baptist Church, Duncansville, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 4pm with Pastor Barry Fry officiating. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery.
