Ethel Mae Dell Walters, 96, of Duncansville, was called home to join her Heavenly family Sunday morning. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Freet) Dell.
She married Harold W. Walters May 5, 1945, in Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death Oct. 12, 2005.
Ethel is survived by her daughter, Kathy Whysong of Altoona; daughter-in-law, Deborah Walters of Altoona; and grandchildren: Nicole Behe (Brian), Shawn Walters (Nikki), Stefanie Darpino (Al), Lindsay Whysong, Alexis Whysong and Conner Whysong; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Riley Behe, and Mia and Nicca Engel.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Harold David “Waldo” Walters; son-in-law, Gregory W. Whysong; and brothers, James and Donald Dell.
Ethel was a charter member of Altoona Bible Church and also attended Foot of Ten Independent Bible Church. She was a woman of great faith who devoted many hours each day attending to the spiritual needs of others by remembering them in prayer and reading daily devotions and her Bible.
Ethel will be remembered by her grandchildren as a loving, caring grandma and a loving friend to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, at Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. with Pr. Stewart W. McClelland officiating, Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery.
