Francis D. Barney

May 21, 1937 – May 1, 2025

Francis D. Barney, 87, Altoona, passed away Thursday at the James E VanZandt VAMC.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Claire (Pielmeier); a daughter, Beverly Harris and husband Gregg of Altoona; a son, Frank Barney and wife Patricia of Hamilton, OH; four grandchildren: William Harris (Keri), Jessica Benson (Brett), and Erica and Brooke Barney.

Frank served in the USMC and retired from McAleer’s Plumbing & Heating after 38 years as a plumber.

He was a member of Saint Mary's Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.

Frank enjoyed hunting and farming with his brother-in-law, Daniel Pielmeier for over 50 years.

At the family’s request, there will be no public services.
